As a young man working in a hi fi shop in the late 70’s I was always fascinated by technology but it wasn’t the selling so much as the tinkering and fixing that I enjoyed. So I left sales and went to college. That passion to fix and see how things work has stayed with me to this day.
This didn’t become my career though. I spent the next 40 years as an electronics technician, then a designer, moving then into software design and finally software testing. Redundancy in February 2019 gave me plenty of time to rethink my options. Inspiration finally came mid August 2019 when over a 24 hour period I had resolved a network connection issue for my mother and brought back to life my brothers ‘dead’ laptop after his local computer repair shop had given up on it.
The thought came to mind that maybe I could do such activity for a living if there was the demand. I approached my local ‘Nextdoor’ community with a ‘what if I was to be your local community IT engineer?’. The rest is history and ongoing! In effect I have come full circle as 40 years on, I am now doing what I intended to do originally albeit now computers instead of radio and TV sets!

I got in touch with Nick Fisher and within one week he had transformed my ancient Dell laptop (originally XP ) which I was about to throw away, into a super-fast Windows 10 computer.
